How To Compose An APA Dissertation Outline In A Proper Way
An APA dissertation outline will be very lengthy. However, it is extremely important, as it will guide you step-by-step through the process. It could be 20-40 pages if it done correctly. And it could take you a full month or two to finish. You will need to do a few things as you contrast this very important document:
- Is the paper in sentence or topic format? With sentence, you will be allowed to make your points in full sentences. This could cause the length of it to triple. If it is topic form, then only quotes and the thesis statement can be in sentences. The rest of the points will be phrases of 5 words or less.
- Use Arial or Times New Roman Font
- Double-space the entire piece
- Use the APA running head that is in the right corner, is an abbreviated form of the title (less than 50 words) and the page number.
- The pattern f or the Outline is:
Do research at a preliminary level before you create the paper
Decide on your thesis first
Get your proposal approved
Organize the ideas and headings in a logical order and sequence
You will have revisions; do not be alarmed when you need to modify the project. These changes mean that the outline is evolving, as it should be in the proper order.
All margins-top, bottom, and sides will be at one inch of width.
You should see your advisor when you have done about half of it. You need to get approval for what you have completed, and corrections for any mistakes you might be making. There is nothing worse than completing a project and finding out that you did it all-wrong. You do not want to have to start over completely.
All colleges have an on campus-writing lab. If you get stuck at any part of the process, go see the lab attendant. Usually graduate students man the labs. You can even leave your work there to be proofed and then pick it up later.
You will not have to submit the outline with the final product. Creating it is for your direction and aid alone. Just remember the better the outline, the better the end dissertation paper.
